Queen Bae Productions & Evrit Film Present Epic Nigerian Film “AMANYANABO: The Eagle King” to UK Audiences
Acclaimed Historical Drama Brings Pre-Colonial African Civilization to the Big Screen
Evrit Film and Queen Bae Studios are proud to announce the UK release of “AMANYANABO: The Eagle King,” on the 29th August 2025. A ground breaking epic film that brings to life the rich history and culture of the Okrika people of Nigeria’s Niger-Delta region. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Fred Amata and produced by Ibinabo Fiberesima, this ambitious production challenges misconceptions about pre-colonial African civilization while delivering a compelling tale of honour, love, and sacrifice.
“We had to marry the rich originality of Africa’s heritage with world-class standards, paying attention to production design, cinematography, props, and the overall feel of the movie to resonate appropriately with the epic period in question,” notes director Fred Amata.
The film release is exclusive to Odeon from the 29th August 2025. The World premiere will take place at Odeon Greenwich, London, on Friday, 29th August, from 19.00.
A Meet & Greet night is scheduled to take place at Odeon Manchester Great Northern on Saturday, 30th August, from 19.00.
A second Meet & Greet night is also scheduled to take place at Odeon Birmingham New Street on Sunday, 31st August

A Story of Power, Faith, and Destiny
Set in the coastal city-state of Okrika, “AMANYANABO” follows the extraordinary journey of Ibanichuka, a carefree warrior who is unexpectedly chosen by the goddess Tamunoba to become king. The film explores his struggle to unite a people divided by the introduction of Christianity while facing threats from colonial forces and internal conflicts that test his leadership and values.
The production authentically showcases the region’s sophisticated democratic war-canoe house system, complex trade relationships, and the profound impact of European colonization on traditional African societies.
